The river levels are low for this time of year but still provide terrific recreation. Beginning the year with “fast water” isn’t always great as many of us don’t kayak in the off season and it challenging to get back in the swing of things when the water it too high. The very first group we put out this year had a local amazed as she pulled into the Jewel Street exit in Otsego. She exclaimed “I had no idea how natural and beautiful it is on the river”! That is music to my ears. I started Plainwell Kayak Company because I wanted more people to see what a wonderful resource we have, the Kalamazoo River.
