I can’t believe after such a slow start this spring that it is already mid-July! I want to thank everyone for their patience as we worked to incorporate the new 2 hour trip to our offerings this summer. The route from Otsego to 26th Street (Trowbridge Dam) was a terrific option this spring. This section of river is much wider allowing many to enjoy the water safely. Our 1 or 3 hour trips were closes for over a week.
When we realized that the 20 minute trip to the pick up site on 26th street was an hour turn around (once you pick up the kayakers) we developed a schedule that is working well. We will leave Plainwell at 11 AM & 3 PM for the 2 hour trip. The 3 hour trip departure times are 10 AM and noon. If any kayaks are left we try to work in the 1 hour trip folks.
Today the 1 hour route is closed to beginners due to a tight corner; a tree is down blocking part of the river. After rescuing a few kayaks we decided to stop putting beginners on that route. Stay tuned or call us for updates.
We are busy and recommend you call ahead vs just dropping by if you really want to kayak especially on weekends. We also would appreciate knowing if you are bringing your dog as it takes up space in the van. We welcome dogs but need to plan for the transportation space.
We are in our third season this year. We appreciate your support and comments that help us continue to serve you better. We remain focused on allowing you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty the Kalamazoo River.
See you on the River!
